The MU has concluded the final draft of a new in-house agreement with The Bridge Theatre.

The terms supplement those set out in the UK Theatre agreement but include additional improvements including increased wages and a progressive subsistence and travel clause to be paid to musicians living 15 miles or more away from the theatre and to be paid throughout the contracted engagement.

We are delighted to see musicians already being engaged by the theatre

Kelly Wood, MU National Organiser for Live, Theatre and Music Writers commented on the new opportunity for members:

"We’re really pleased to have secured a new agreement with the Bridge Theatre, and to have established what we believe will be a positive and valuable relationship with the producers.

“The theatre sector’s recovery from the pandemic has been incredibly challenging, so we welcome new opportunities for our members, particularly under MU-negotiated agreements. We’re delighted to see musicians already being engaged by the theatre, and we’re hopeful that the Bridge will have a very successful programme of shows featuring live music."

MU London Regional Organiser Jamie Pullman added:

"It's great news that the Bridge has joined us in a collective agreement that will underpin the wages of musicians working in their theatre for the future. We look forward to many successful productions using musicians under these terms and conditions in the years to come."

Looking forward to the future

The Bridge Theatre have stated:

"We're very happy to have reached a new house agreement with the Musicians' Union that we can use at the Bridge as we open our first musical and we look forward to working with the Union further in the future.”

The first musical to be performed under the new agreement will be Guys and Dolls which is currently planned to run from 3 March 2023 to 2 September 2023.
